The Stolen SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! @ 08:10 pm

Tags:

Well first off, here's a fact about tonight's Doctor Who 4.12 "The Stolen Earth" that isn't a spoiler but a pretty reasonable prediction: The forums are going to go into meltdown! It could even last days!

The rest are big dripping blood redSPOILERS so be warned and don't cry afterwards (and if you haven't seen it yet - DO!):

That really was a brilliant and jawdropping episode. What could have been a lot of pointless overcrowded fanwank proved instead to be constantly gripping throughout. There was so much in those 45 minutes. What's not to love?

Donna definitely looks good in brown leather. It really brings out her gorgeous eyes.

A proper Dalek invasion and one that recalls the classic Dalek Invasion Of Earth (don't tell the people of Earth about that one though as it hasn't happened yet *wink*) as well as the mass assault of Bad Wolf/The Parting Of The Ways (not just the only similarity but let's not jump ahead). Loads of Dalek ships. Daleks rounding people up from their homes like Nazis in the dead of night. Mass extermination on non-complying households.

Richard Dawkins has a brilliant cameo and once more knows exactly what he's talking about.

There's a reappearance for the Judoon and we finally find out more what this Shadow Proclamation is all about (they're not nearly as useful as our Donna though).

We find out what happened to Dalek Caan and it's worthy of a "Caaaaaaaaaaaaan! CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!" if ever there was one.

Davros is even more than ever the daddy of the Daleks, even donating his own cells to the cause.

Harriet Jones has a memorable reappearance for the first time since The Paris-mas Invasion and gets to redeem herself (and get proven right). Even the Daleks join in the old familiar "yes, we know who you are" lol!

The scenes with Martha Jones were a bit cringeworthy and embarassing for me. Once again, the more she's treated like the most amazing woman in creation by everyone, the more silly and unsubstantial she appears.

Rose is back, walking the streets taking on looters and Daleks alike. Loved her bitchy comments about this Martha person who took her place for a bit. Punk Rock!

The build to the cliffhanger really puts nearly everyone up against the wall to be shot - Torchwood's Gwen and Ianto, Sarah Jane Smith - but that's not even the biggie. The surprise ending was spoiled somewhat by The Sun. Not that I read that rag of course but on the internet tongues will wag. Rose and the Doctor's reunion goes seriously pear shaped (always thought that saying was racist against pears and now I'm using it myself for shame). The Doctor takes quite a hit from a sneaky Dalek (reminded me a bit of how Absolom Daak's girlfriend bought it) and... wait for it... Actually begins to regenerate! Goodbye David Tennant? Oh there's been the rumours of course but it had seemed unlikely given that the move from series to specials next year was supposed to be to accomodate his theatre pursuits. Is this really the end or are we being hoodwinked? Since a regeneration does seem pretty final, who's up for the role next (some say Neil Morrissey)? And how will next week's packed storyline resolution accomodate a regeneration (which usually take some time to recover from)? See what I mean - Meltdown!

No trailer at all this time. Not even after the end credits :( Ah, but what a memory of a near perfect episode to leave us with. Now to just calmly, idly and quietly wait it out.... FOR A WHOLE FRAKIN' WEEK! The pain! The pain! Oh I are mortally afflicted by it all! *dramatic theatrical death throes*

I love Donna, so much--she really grew on me over this season, and I'm happy to say I'm a Donna-convert!

And Harriet Jones--I giggled so much when the Daleks joined in on the 'yes we know' bit. So funny.

Glad you finally caught the episode :) The next one is bound to polarise opinion quite a bit (I'm mostly somewhere in the middle, leaning towards liking it).

Donna's been converting loads of people since becoming a regular. Nice to see some people are open minded enough to revise their initial opinions or fears.
